#60 • Vision Week, December 2016 • Excerpt 13 • “11 Practical Points” (1)

April 19, 2017

In this week’s program we continue to feature excerpts from the recent Winter Vision Week in Cleveland, Ohio.

In our previous program, Brother Titus shared on how we need to have the reality of a church life in which we are contacting Christ together, rather than a church life that is occupied simply with meetings. In this program and the next, he provides some very practical fellowship, giving us 11 points on how we can have such a church life. We’ll start with about the first 8 in this program and finish them in the next.

#59 • Vision Week, December 2016 • Excerpt 12 • “What Is the Focus of Our Labor”

April 12, 2017

In this week’s program we are continuing to feature excerpts from the recent Winter Vision Week in Cleveland, Ohio. In our previous program, Brother Titus shared about his own experiences of learning to trust in the Lord while still in high school, to illustrate how we must each contact the Lord directly, rather than just consider ourselves as part of a group church life. If you have not yet listened to that program you may wish to do so before you come to this one.

In both of these programs, our brother is referring to Psalm 84:7, which states that “each one” of us must appear before God; that is, we must each have our own, personal experience of Christ. He is also referring to the Old Testament picture of tabernacle, which shows us that while the outer court is necessary, we must not remain there. Rather, in our seeking after God we must go on to enter into the tabernacle to experience Christ directly. So often, in caring for the saints, we only bring them to the meetings, which is the outward form of the church life, and not into the real experience of Christ. This can make it difficult for the saints to persevere in their seeking after Christ.

#58 • Vision Week, December 2016 • Excerpt 11 • “Two Personal Experiences”

April 5, 2017

In this week’s program we are continuing to feature excerpts from the recent Winter Vision Week in Cleveland, Ohio. In this conference, Brother Titus focused a good deal on Psalm 84:7. This verse says of those who truly seek the Lord:

They go from strength to strength;
    each one appears before God in Zion.

His stress was the “each one” in this verse. That is, we must not only have the church life, we must also have our own direct connection with the Lord Himself. In this excerpt, therefore, he shares two examples of his own experience of learning to trust in the Lord and give himself to the Lord as a very young brother while still in high school in Taiwan.

#57 • Vision Week, December 2016 • Excerpt 10 • “Each One”

March 29, 2017

In this week’s program we are continue to feature excerpts from the recent Winter Vision Week in Cleveland, Ohio.

In this excerpt, Brother Titus, with the help of another brother, first reads through and comments on the outline for this message of the training. He then goes on to speak again of how each of us is responsible to appear before God ourselves, and how we must, therefore, learn to labor on people one by one, rather than trusting in the church as a whole to care for the new ones we contact.

All of this is in reference to what is spoken of in Psalm 84:7 of those who truly seek the Lord:

They go from strength to strength;
    each one appears before God in Zion.

#56 • Vision Week, December 2016 • Excerpt 9 • “The Sparrows and the Swallows”

March 22, 2017

In this week’s program we are continuing to feature excerpts from the recent Winter Vision Week in Cleveland, Ohio.

In this excerpt, Brother Titus continues his consideration of Psalm 84:1-3, 7, stressing the difference between the sparrows and the swallows, and the meaning of “each one” appearing “before God.” These verses say:

How lovely is your dwelling place,
    O Lord of hosts!
My soul longs, yes, faints
    for the courts of the Lord;
My heart and flesh sing for joy
    to the living God.
Even the sparrow finds a home,
    and the swallow a nest for herself,
    where she may lay her young,
at your altars, O Lord of hosts,
    my King and my God….
They go from strength to strength;
    each one appears before God in Zion.

#55 • Vision Week, December 2016 • Excerpt 8 • “The Two Altars”

March 15, 2017

In this week’s program we are continuing to feature excerpts from the recent Winter Vision Week in Cleveland, Ohio.

In the tabernacle with the tent of meeting, as described in the book of Exodus, there were two altars: the bronze alter in the outer court and the golden incense altar within the actual tabernacle. These two altars are also spoken of in Psalm 84; verse 3 of that psalm says that in God’s dwelling place:

Even the sparrow finds a home,
    and the swallow a nest for herself,
    where she may lay her young,
at your altars, O LORD of hosts,
    my King and my God.

And verse 7 says of those who give themselves to seek the Lord:

They go from strength to strength;
    each one appears before God in Zion.

In this excerpt, therefore, Brother Titus uses the picture of these two altars to show us God’s desire, that we advance from the bronze altar in the tent of meeting to the incense altar within the tabernacle, and how we grow in our relationship with God by continually traveling between these two altars.

#54 • Vision Week, December 2016 • Excerpt 7 • “An Overview of the Tent of Meeting and the Tabernacle”

March 8, 2017

In this week’s program we are continuing to feature excerpts from the recent Winter Vision Week in Cleveland, Ohio.

In this excerpt Brother Titus, with the help of another brother, reads through and comments on the outline of the first message from this training, giving an overview of the tabernacle with the tent of meeting and its spiritual significance. From this we see, as the outline states:

God’s desire is not for people to spend all their life in the courts of the tent of meeting. Rather, His desire is that they would experience the second part: the tabernacle itself, where they can enjoy Him [and] be joined to Him….

#53 • Vision Week, December 2016 • Excerpt 6 • “The Real Significance of the Altar”

February 28, 2017

In this week’s program we are continuing to feature excerpts from the recent Winter Vision Week in Cleveland, Ohio.

What is the real significance of the altar in the Old Testament tent of meeting? Of course, many Christians do realize that it signifies we must offer ourselves to God. As Brother Titus shares, however, that does not mean we offer ourselves on the altar to do something for God; rather, we offer ourselves to be consumed by God. If we fail to see this, we will miss the real meaning of the Christian life and spend our lives engaged in Christian activities in the outer court, rather than going on to contact Christ Himself in the Holy Place within the tabernacle.

#52 • Vision Week, December 2016 • Excerpt 5 • “Do We Have the Right View in Raising Up Brothers to Serve the Lord?”

February 22, 2017

In this week’s program we are continuing to feature excerpts from the recent Winter Vision Week in Cleveland, Ohio.

In this excerpt Brother Titus shares how we may try to develop brothers merely to serve in an outward way in the “tent of meeting,” focusing on how they appear, whether or not they can give good messages, and other outward matters, rather than on bringing them into the tabernacle to contact Christ Himself.

#51 • Vision Week, December 2016 • Excerpt 4 • “Practical Fellowship for Going on with the Lord” (4)

February 15, 2017

In this week’s program we are continuing to feature excerpts from the recent Winter Vision Week in Cleveland, Ohio.

The general topic of this training was related to the Old Testament picture of the tabernacle. At a number of points in his sharing, therefore, Brother Titus refers to a diagram that was being displayed during the meetings of the tabernacle with the outer court. He points out that we should not be satisfied to live a life merely in the “tent of meeting,” remaining in the outer court. Rather, we must press on to enter the tabernacle itself, where we can experience God directly.

In this excerpt Brother Titus’ main burden is to use this picture to give us a very practical word, showing us how we can have a healthy church life, rather than a life of merely coming to the meetings.
